Afforestation in Bangladesh

Carbon Removal

Planting fruit-bearing trees on marginal lands owned by smallholder farmers in Bangladesh, focusing on horticultural agroforestry systems to enhance carbon removal and multiple benefits.

This project:

  • Captures CO2 to reduce carbon emissions.

  • Aids water stewardship

  • Improves soil quality and land productivity.

  • Supports local communities through sustainable practices.

  • Utilizes advanced technologies for monitoring and transparency.

    Removal

Planting new forests or restoring degraded ones boosts carbon capture and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. These initiatives can earn carbon credits by proving they increase carbon storage through tree planting or regrowth.

  • Credit start: Jun 15, 2020

    Credit end: Jun 14, 2040

Refers to the fixed length of time during which a particular carbon credit's project is authorized to generate carbon credits, after which the project must be reassessed or renewed to continue producing credits

  • Carbon offsetting involves funding projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions to achieve a net zero carbon footprint. Each ton of carbon absorbed from the atmosphere equates to a carbon credit. To ensure these credits are genuine, they must be approved by independent organisations such as Verra or Gold Standard. These bodies verify that the projects genuinely benefit the environment and wouldn't have occurred without the support.
